Language is no Tool

People think language to be a tool when at most people are language's tools.

One of my many beefs with academic literature is that it is jargon-filled and ugly, academics perhaps thinking that they sound clever using weasel terms and that they are choosing the words as they write them when in fact good writers know that the right words choose them.

The skill for seizing and verbalising the mot juste is under-appreciated and under-valued, at least in the academic world.
